Why this summer drink is all you need to stay healthy

The Summer season is here and it’s time to prep-up for some scorching hot days by boosting metabolism and immunity. Well, it is impossible to think about summers without mentioning the thirst quenching cold drinks. No wonder, the word cold drink is mostly synonymous to aerated drinks that are laced with sugar and zero nutrients. These drinks instantly spike up the sugar levels and gradually dehydrate the body. Here’s a desi-homemade drink, which is a perfect mix of health, taste and can fix common health issues that happen during the hot and humid weather.

Why switch to this desi spice drink?

Consuming saunf during the summers has a cooling effect on the body, this is the reason why saunf has always been used as a mouthfresh post meal as it helps in better digestion. Saunf is cold in nature, which makes it great for summers and mixing it with basil seeds and mint makes this drink a perfect blend for summers.

Why saunf?

Saunf, also known as fennel, is a lot more than a regular spice. Packed with dietary fibers, minerals and vitamins, the fennel oil helps in releasing enzymes which help in improving digestion, metabolism and gut health. Apart from that, saunf is good for bone health and eyesight as it is a good source of antioxidants, manganese, magnesium, and calcium.

How to make the desi-saunf drink

To make this simple drink, take 2 tablespoons of fennel seeds and grind them with ¼ cup of mishri, 4-5 almonds.

Next, take a large cold water jug and add in 2-3 tablespoons of saunf mixture along with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 4-5 mint leaves crushed, and a pinch of rock salt.

In the meantime, soak basil seeds and keep aside.

Stir and keep the drink aside for sometime. Next, add basil seeds and strain the drink and enjoy any time of the day.
