What is Miyazaki mango

The mango is called Miyazaki mango or Taiyo-no-Tamago, "Egg of the Sun", because of its intense colour and egg shape. As per reports, these mangoes are grown during the peak harvest between April and August in Japan’s Miyazaki city. They are purple in colour and turn flaming red when ripe. The report says that a single Miyazaki mango can weigh around 350 grams and is sold at Rs 2.70 lakh per kilogram in the international market. Also, one mango can grow up to 900 grams in weight. Why is it so expensive?

As per experts, this variety of mango requires a typical sort of warm weather, abundant rainfall, and prolonged sunlight, which Miyazaki city offers and the whole intricate process of growing it makes this variety an expensive mango. Also, as per online reports, each mango is wrapped in a small net so that sunlight gets distributed evenly and gives them a uniform ruby-red colour. And at some places, they also use reflectors below the plant so that the sunlight is bounced upward. The taste of this mango is described as mango-flavoured candy with hints of pineapple and coconut.
