This is the reason why you must never eat in a hurry!

Calm down and eat

There are many circumstances that might make you eat fast. Getting late for work, wanting to finish the food before your sibling can eat it, the food is so tasty that you just have to gobble it up, eating out of guilt or stress, or you’re a fast eater in general. Whatever the scenario, it is never a good idea to rush eating your food, for the consequences may be far more dire than you can imagine. Here are some side effects of eating food in a hurry.

2/5

Abdominal pain

Abdominal pain is a real nightmare, not just because of the magnitude of pain, but because it is so common. A number of factors can trigger pain in the abdomen, and one of them is eating too fast. Eating quickly leads to poor digestion, as larger morsels and a higher quantity of food require more efficient digestion, something your body is not prepared for. This in turn leads to gas or bloating, which can cause abdominal pain.

3/5

Weight gain

Eating too fast disrupts hormones that regulate appetite and hunger. These hormones are responsible for signalling satiety, and since they are disrupted, the feeling of fullness is delayed, thus encouraging overeating.

4/5

Increased risk of diabetes

The most damage from diabetes comes after meals, when blood sugar levels are the highest. Everyone's blood sugar increases after eating, but the faster you eat, the faster sugars enter the bloodstream. Eating fast on a regular basis gradually increases blood sugar, which might lead to diabetes.

5/5

Heart disease

Eating quickly reduces the body’s metabolism, which is said to reduce good cholesterol levels and increase bad cholesterol levels. A sudden spike in bad cholesterol puts your heart at risk as it increases the risk of heart diseases like stroke and heart attack.
