​Easy low calorie desi snacks can help in weight loss


The long weekend is here and it’s time to prep-up for some good times with friends and family. So, whether you love chilling at home or love partying with friends, imagining celebrations without good food and drinks is impossible. Here are some fun low calorie snacks, which are made with a desi twist and are super delicious. So, without a further ado just try these simple recipes and enjoy.

​Masala Olives


To begin with this healthy and exotic recipe with a desi twist, wash and clean the olives, remove the seeds. Take green and black olives, keep them in a bowl and sprinkle some lemon juice, salt and pepper. Soak them for 1 hour. Next, take a pan and add in 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon of minced ginger, 1 tablespoon of ginger, a pinch of hing, red chili powder, and prepare a tempering. Pour this over the olives and toss nicely and enjoy them anytime.

​Tofu Grill


This simple grilled tofu makes for a delicious and protein rich snack. To make this simple recipe, take tofu and cut them into desired shapes. Next, prepare a basting and grilling sauce. Coat the tofu with a mixture of cornflour, soy sauce, red chili powder, pepper and sesame seeds. Marinate for sometime. Next, take skewers and place the tofu with veggies of choice in between and brush a mix of hung curd, black pepper, garam masala and coriander leaves chopped. Place it on a griller or grill it in an airfryer. This healthy snack is worth a try!

​Carrot fries


Fond of fries? Then give your indulgence a healthy twist with this yummy recipe. Take carrots and cut them into small strips, coat them in a mixture of olive oil, salt, pepper and red chili powder. Brush it over the strips and bake for some time, sprinkle some chopped coriander, chaat masala and enjoy with dip or sauce.

​Chickpea Toss


If you are looking for a protein rich snack that too without compromising on taste, then try this delicious masala tossed chickpeas. To make this easy snack, boil 2 cups of chickpeas and keep aside. In the meantime, heat a pan and add 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of ginger paste followed by 2 chopped onions, 3 green chilies, and toss the masala till it turns brown in colour. Then add in red chili powder, pepper, garam masala, salt and lemon juice. Cook the masala and add in the boiled chickpeas. Fry them well and serve hot with coriander and lemon juice.

Peanut Bhel


To make this bhel recipe, soak peanuts for an hour, drain water and keep aside. Next wash and chop onions, tomato, green chilies and coriander leaves. Take a large bowl and add lemon juice, chaat masala, salt, red chili powder, whisk it well and add in green chilies and chopped coriander. Toss it well and mix it with the soaked peanuts. In another bowl, add onion, tomato, boiled and chopped potatoes, murmura, cumin powder and toss it well. Lastly, add the peanut mixture and toss it all together, add sev and enjoy.

​Cucumber boats


This no effort snack takes just 10 minutes and is super delicious, take cucumbers, dig out the seeds and keep in a bowl. Whisk it well with green chilies, coriander leaves, hung curd, tahini, salt, pepper and red chili powder, whisk it together. Place them on the cucumber cavity and repeat with the rest of the cucumbers and enjoy with a spicy chutney.
