Selection of eggs

It is of utmost importance that you choose the right egg for making an omelette. Always, make sure that the egg you are using for the omelette is at room temperature. The ones from the refrigerator will not make a good omelette. If the eggs have been lying in the refrigerator, put them outside for a while and then start the procedure.

Beating eggs correctly

When making an omelette, use 1 tbsp milk in it to make it frothy and light. If the eggs are not beaten well then there will be less frothiness, which will result in a bad omelette. A good omelette should always be fluffy and the secret behind it is the beating of the egg. You can also use an electric beater to get the perfect frothiness.

Using the perfect pan

When it comes to cooking an omelette, pans play a crucial role. While making an omelette, it is suggested that one should use a medium-size non-stick pan as it helps in getting concentrated heat overall. Also, make sure that the omelette is cooked on medium-low heat so that it is cooked evenly.

The timing for frying

It is of foremost importance that you pour the beaten egg at a perfect time. But, how will you determine the perfect timing? When your see bubbles in the melting butter, drop the egg mixture in it and spread it evenly by lifting the pan. Don’t spread the mixture with a spoon or any ladle as it can break the omelette easily.

How not to break an omelette

The mantra is-low flame and patience. Do not be in a hurry to flip it. Let it cook on low flame till the juices start looking firm. Lift a little from the side and check. If it looks fine, flip it.

Colour perfection

An omelette should always have a brown but the light yellowish or cream colour from the bottom, then only one can call it a perfect omelette. You must keep a close check while cooking this delicate dish, as it takes only a fraction of seconds when it goes bad.

Using chopped toppings

To make a perfect omelette, one should always keep the toppings handy. Never ever rush in chopping veggies at the moment as it can ruin the folding process of the omelette. Even if you have to beat the egg with veggies, they must be chopped beforehand.

The plating

It is definitely an art when it comes to plating the omelette. Make sure to use a silicon spatula to slide the omelette and hold the pan just above the skillet when transferring it. Also, before transferring, shake the pan gently and fold the omelette with a silicone spatula.
