Should you buy an air fryer, oven or a microwave?

Fond of fries, fritter and sumptuous snacks, but worried about calories? Then switching to a healthy mode of cooking is the best way to enjoy your favourite delicacies! Well, you must have come across this so many times that your way of cooking defines your health condition and undeniably the kitchen appliances market has been thriving on it so much so that it is no less than a challenge to figure out which appliance will suffice the needs and turn out to be a better choice in terms of health quotient.

Well, if you are someone who loves gorging on fried snacks, but at the same time are concerned about the calories count, then the idea of buying an air fryer must have crossed your mind. Here’s all you need to know before you plan to buy an air fryer or whether a microwave oven can meet the needs!

What’s better: An oven, microwave or an air fryer?

Interestingly, when it comes to choosing the right kitchen appliances it is always a challenge to zero down on one as every appliance has something better than the other! There are several differences between air fryers and microwaves, but what majorly makes a difference is the method of heating and how quickly it can cook a dish.

On one hand a microwave oven can cook a meal in just a matter of minutes by producing microwaves, on the other hand air fryers use the convection method of heating, which cooks the food perfectly but takes more time as compared to a microwave oven.

Air fryers have heating coils and the fan present inside blows the heat, which helps in cooking food evenly. Much like air fryers conventional oven also known as OTG’s use the same procedure of heating, the coil present inside the oven turns hot and the fans helps in circulation of the hot air inside the oven, which eventually cooks the food inside out and evenly, but it takes longer to cook or heat the food as compared to a microwave or an air fryer.

In fact, every appliance provides some or the other benefits, but at the same time addresses the biggest problem with the other appliance. Just like the difference between air fryers and microwaves, one cooks food super fast, but may end up reducing the taste and flavours due to excessive heat. On the other hand an air fryer cooks a dish perfectly, but takes more time to cook. confusing

So, both the appliances may serve the purpose of cooking, but here are a few more things you should consider before zeroing down on your search!

3/5

What’s good for health?

One of the best things about both the appliances is that they can cook a meal with less oil or even no oil. Air fryers can cook a dish without using any trace of oil and at the same time, the method of cooking retains the nutrients.

On the other hand, due to the use of microwaves for heating the oven, the nutrients are often lost in the process of cooking. However, due to the heat, it often helps in killing several pathogens present in food within a few minutes.

4/5

Limitations

While microwave ovens take up a lot of space in the kitchen and need proper ways to clean ensuring safety. On the other hand, air fryers are small, compact and much like a microwave oven several delicacies can be prepared using the appliance.

However, the compact structure of an airfryer is not meant for cooking in bulk or huge quantities, which again turns out to be a major limitation.

5/5

Verdict

Lastly, if you are willing to go for a perfect appliance, you must consider all the pros and cons before you narrow down your search for the right appliance. Also, both the appliances have a thin line of difference, but if you are only looking for quality of food and reducing the calorie intake, then buying an airfryer is a great idea or else if you are looking for a multi-purpose appliance for day-to-day cooking then microwaves oven makes for the perfect choice!
