What happens when you eat these soaked foods

Sadhguru is known for leading a balanced and mindful lifestyle, which includes the habit of waking up early, participating in physical activities, and eating sensibly. In a video interview with Curly Tales, he once talked about the eight unique and healthy foods he enjoys for breakfast. Interestingly, his breakfast routine includes four sprouted foods that are a part of his regular breakfast. Scroll down to read the details and learn why you should start adding them to your diet too.

2/5

Sprouted Fenugreek Seeds

In the interview he mentioned that he consumes sprouted fenugreek seeds in the morning. He recommends soaking the fenugreek seeds overnight to sprout them, as sprouting makes the complex carbohydrates more digestible and increases their nutritional value. It is also said that sprouted fenugreek seeds help clean the intestines, help balance sugar levels in the body, and also control hunger pangs. As per a study, patients consuming 25 grams of sprouted fenugreek seeds twice daily for 45 days experienced statistically significant reductions in fasting blood glucose, post-prandial blood sugar, BMI, blood pressure, pulse rate, and weight compared with controls. These effects were notable after 15, 30, and 45 days of treatment with negligible adverse effects.

3/5

Soaked Groundnuts

In the interview, Sadhguru mentioned that groundnuts should be soaked for at least 6–8 hours to get maximum benefits. It is rich in fiber, helps improve blood circulation, and protects the heart too. Soaking may help reduce anti-nutritional factors like phytates, tannins, enzyme inhibitors and make nutrients more bioavailable, soften the seed for easier digestion, etc.

4/5

Soaked Almonds

He also mentioned that he consumes soaked almonds for breakfast. It is said that soaking the almonds and removing the skin softens the texture, making them easier to chew and digest. Also, soaking may help reduce anti-nutrients like phytic acid, improving the bioavailability of minerals. Soaked and peeled almonds are easy on the gut, which aids digestion.

5/5

Sprouted green gram

He also consumes sprouted green gram for breakfast. They are low in calories, have fiber and vitamins B and C, and also provide antioxidants that help detoxify the body. It is said that sprouting enhances the nutritional profile of green gram. It boosts vitamin C and B-complex levels, increases antioxidants, and improves the bioavailability of minerals like iron, magnesium, and zinc. And, sprouted moong is an excellent plant-based protein source, which is perfect for vegetarians and fitness enthusiasts. It helps repair muscles, promote satiety, and support healthy weight management as well.
