Here is a look at popular noodles from around the world

A bowl of slurpy, tasty and spicy noodles is a dish that we could hardly say no to. They are a part of everyday staple in different cuisines around the world. Also, noodles are made from numerous ingredients like flour, wheat flour, rice flour etc. and serve to the liking of different people. They also come in different assortments; some are served with a rich broth, some topped with sauces, and others are stir fried.

​Pho, Vietnam

The dish is made of a beef or chicken broth, rice noodles and a host of spices including ginger, star anise, and coriander seeds. It could be garnished with a range of stuff: fish sauce, hoisin sauce, Thai basil, cilantro, mint, scallions, chillies, bean sprouts, and fresh lime.

Pad see ew, Thailand

Basically, it is stir fried noodle dish made by tossing all the ingredients into a hot wok and letting the noodles caramelize in soy sauce. Generally, it is made with wide rice noodles, vegetables and a sweet and savory sauce.

A noodle soup, Ramen consists of Chinese wheat noodles served in a meat or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and uses toppings such as sliced pork, dried seaweed, and scallions. Also, nearly every region in Japan has its own variation of ramen, such as Tonkotsu Ramen, Miso Ramen etc.

​Shan Noodles, Myanmar


It is a lesser-known dish from the Shan state in eastern Myanmar. They are sticky in texture, and are often served with vegetables and a choice of protein (usually chicken or pork) in a soup, or dry.

​Laksa, Malaysia or Singapore


This bold orange coloured curry-based noodle soup uses vermicelli rice noodles, and usually has a coconut or tamarind base and is served with shrimp. The dish can be found across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.

​Chow mein, China


It is stir-fried noodles with vegetables and sometimes meat or tofu and is particularly popular in India, Nepal, the UK, and the US. Chow mein is a versatile dish and can be made with a variety of different meats and vegetables or served vegetarian.

​Wonton Noodles, Hong Kong


It is made of egg noodles, hot broth, a choice of leafy vegetable, and wonton dumplings. The wontons are usually filled with shrimp or pork and the dish is served in small bowls so the noodles don’t overcook and become soggy.

​Cacio e pepe, Italy


It is a pasta dish and its name means "cheese and pepper". The ingredients of the dish are very simple: black pepper, grated Pecorino Romano cheese, and spaghetti, or traditionally tonnarello. The pasta is prepared in boiling salted water; it is then poured into the grated pecorino mixed with black pepper, with a little of the hot, starchy, cooking water.
