For most tea lovers beginning the day with a warm and comforting cup of tea is more of a ritual than just a habit. But one thing that simply amps up the morning tea experience is pairing it with scrumptious foods like biscuits, cookies or munchies. However, with an increasing consciousness towards health and fitness many people are shifting from biscuits to healthier foods to pair with their morning cuppa like nuts, gram flour based snacks, milk or curd based foods, but is it safe to drink tea with these foods? Well, the answer is a big NO! Let’s find out, why

​Lemon


Adding lemon to morning tea is a common practice as it is believed to help burn fat and lose belly fat, but experts believe doing this can trigger acidity, aggravate stomach ulcers and cause bloating and discomfort. This is because brewing tea leaves with citric acid rich lemons can increase the acidic nature of the drink causing discomfort.

​Milk


Tea is a very rich source of antioxidants and to get the maximum benefit from the tea, drinking it black without milk and sugar is the ideal way. This is because adding milk and sugar to tea can destroy its efficacy as a potent health drink and makes it rich in fat and carbohydrates.

​Nuts is a strict no!


Most health enthusiasts switch to nuts and seeds to make their tea-time snacking healthy, but experts believe that having nuts with tea is a terrible combination and may have ripple effects on health. This is because a compound called Tannin present in tea can block the absorption of nutrients when taken with nuts. So, if you want to reap the benefits of nuts, then it is best to avoid pairing them with tea.

​Gram flour munchies and pakoras


Chai and pakoda is a classic combination, when it comes to enjoying tea, but you will be surprised to know that pairing tea with gram flour snacks is actually a wrong combination. Pairing deep fried gram flour snacks with tea can trigger heartburn, cause bloating, constipation and acidity.

The water content of melons makes them the best summer foods, but what if we tell you that eating them with tea or right after sipping tea can lead to an upset stomach. The high water content in melons makes them great for hydration, but mixing them up with caffeine rich tea is certainly a bad idea.
