Is muesli better than oats?

Oats and muelsi almost seem to compete with each other when it comes to having a healthy breakfast. Both of them are convenient and can be easily prepared. But which is better and healthier? Have a look!

2/8

Supports Weight loss

If you are struggling to lose weight and want to accelerate the process, oats are the best breakfast option to indulge in. Due to its cravings reducing properties, it aids in shedding those extra kilos by triggering Cholecystokinin, a hunger-fighting hormone to work more effectively. Just cook oats with some veggies or consume them with milk and fruits, and you are good to go.

3/8

Fights diabetes and helps in maintaining an ideal weight

The fact that it has a low GI, makes it a very healthy option for diabetic patients in maintaining their blood sugar levels like oats, but keep in mind the servings ie ⅓-¼ bowl. Also since it is high in fiber, it keeps you satiated for long.

4/8

Boosts Immunity

The presence of high levels of antioxidants and minerals help in improving immunity levels and preventing frequent infections and other health problems like being prone to flu.

5/8

Enriched with a high amount of vitamins and minerals

Muesli is enriched with the best of vitamins and minerals all enveloped in a single meal with Vitamin E, Thiamin, vitamin B6, Vit b12, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc. It is best recommended to consume muesli in the morning usually with yoghurt and yummy maple syrup or with some amount of milk and fresh berries.

6/8

Prevents cardiovascular disease

The anti-oxidant agents present in oats are advantageous for those with heart ailments and the dietary fibres help bring down the bad cholesterol (LDL) without influencing the good cholesterol (HDL), thus preventing heart-related diseases.

7/8

Controls blood sugar levels

The high fibre and complex starches hinder the transformation of this whole food to simple sugars by lowering the speed of the whole process. This slow release of sugar is idea for diabetics and also aids in weight loss.

8/8

Conclusion

To encapsulate, oats and muesli possess similar characteristics but the major difference lies in the fact that while oats are unprocessed, muesli is processed. You can have both alternately as breakfast, provided you keep a check on the quantity you consume.
