Viral: Is fake Amul Butter being packed in China? Read this to know the truth

The fake packaging of Amul Butter

Dairy brand Amul recently landed in controversy about the quality of its butter being circulated in India. Having been founded in 1946, it is one of the oldest players in the Indian market. The brand landed in controversy when a video began to be circulated on Whatsapp, where one can see the new packaging of the Amul Butter which is being packed in China. Apparently, this video is being circulated by some individuals in Srinagar. However, the brand has come out in open about the packaging news and issued a public notice denying the same. The social media post

The dairy company took to a popular social media site and issued a notice on its official handle while informing the public about this fake news. The notice read, “This is for your kind information that a fake message is being forwarded on WhatsApp and Social Media platforms regarding duplicate Amul Butter packed in China. We wish to inform you, both packets of Amul Butter shown in the video are genuine and manufactured in India by Amul.” The brand clarified that “The video clipping shows a comparison between the earlier pack and new pack of Amul Butter and has been used to create misinformation and spread fear and concern among consumers.” (Image courtesy: Instagram/@amul_india)

The legal notice

The dairy company has issued a legal notice to the miscreants who are spreading this fake news and are asking them to share this public notice with their friends & family to make them aware of the lies that people are spreading about the brand.

But, people have not shied away from sharing that the taste of the products has also changed which is letting people believe these lies. One user @pandeyshruti12 wrote “Thank you for sharing this.. but the taste has also changed with this packing that's why we were more doubtful.. The taste is sooo different from the earlier butter we used to have.. Pls check this.”
