Types of coffee that can only be found in India

Are you one of those coffee aficionados who cannot do without their daily cup of joe? Well, going to a cafe or takeaway outlet to grab your coffee might be a thing of the west, but in India, people like have their coffee with their friends and family. While it feels amazing to sit and drink the coffee varieties like Mocha or Cappuccino in your favourite cafe, it does not sound economical at all as it costs a bomb to visit daily. Tandoori Coffee

With a smoky flavour, it’s a unique variety of coffee that you can only find in India and is inspired from Tandoori Chai. Just like tandoori chai, hot brewed coffee is poured in a clay pot or kulhad heated in tandoor.

South Indian Filter Coffee

Served in a steel cup with a bowl, this South Indian Filter Coffee or Kaapi is truly a delight for coffee lovers and is prepared with hot milk, sugar and coffee decoction. It has the perfect balance of caffeine and sugar.

‘Phitti Hui’ Coffee

Remember those old days, when you used to beat coffee powder with some sugar and water and then pour boiled milk into it? It came to be known as hand-beaten Coffee or the desi cappuccino that used to have a nice frothing. These days, you don’t need to hurt your hands for beating the coffee decoction as you can easily buy a frother or coffee beater on e-commerce portals.

Black Ginger Coffee

This Kaapi or coffee is Tamil Nadu’s answer to ‘Spiced Tea’ and is prepared to treat cold and cough. Just like tea, coffee is brewed with sukku or dry ginger and then mixed with palm jaggery. To increase its taste, you can also consider adding black pepper and Tulsi leaves. However, make sure that you do not drink more than 2 cups of this coffee.
