How to make Halwai Style Aloo Sabji at home

Halwai Style Aloo Sabji

This one is for all the aloo lovers. This is Halwai Style Aloo Sabji, which is very easy to make and has no onion, no garlic in it. It goes well with poori, paratha, and even rice. As per experts, use of hand pounded spices add to the texture and taste of this curry, which can be served with khasta kachori too. Scroll down to read the recipe.

Ingredients required

¼ cup mustard oil, 1 tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp fennel seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, 2 tbsp green chilli and ginger, 1 tsp turmeric powder, a pinch of degi red chilli powder, 2 tsp coriander powder, 2 medium size tomato, 7 medium size boiled potato, 2 cups water, salt to taste, ¼ tsp sugar, and 1 tbsp ghee

Step 1



In a cooker, heat mustard oil, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds let it splutter well.

Add a pinch of asafoetida, crushed chilli & ginger saute for a minute. Also, add turmeric powder, degi red chilli powder, coriander powder saute for a minute.

Add tomato and saute until fragrant. Then add the diced boiled potatoes and mix it well.

Add water, salt to taste, sugar and stir it once then put the lid on and give it 2 whistles. Let the pressure release naturally.

Remove the lid and with the help of a masher mash some of the potatoes and then boil it for a minute.

Top it with ghee and coriander leaves. Serve hot with poori, paratha, or rice.
