Addressing the same, Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford universities, recently shared a list of gut health food showdowns, where he compared popular foods and revealed which one makes for healthier choices for gut health. For breakfast, he prefers rolled oats over cornflakes. They are rich in soluble fibre, which helps good gut bacteria thrive and support smoother digestion.

When it comes to oats, he prefers steel-cut oats over rolled ones, as they are less processed and digest slowly, which helps control blood sugar and support gut health.

According to Dr Saurabh, lentil pasta over white pasta is a gluten-free option, which is rich in fiber and plant-protein, which further helps boost gut health.

He prefers sweet potato over white potato, as they are packed with fiber and antioxidants, boost gut heath and have anti-inflammatory properties as well.
