Best drinks to reverse fatty liver

The way every external body part requires cleaning to keep it nourished and healthy, so do internal organs. And one such organ that requires regular cleaning is the liver. After all, it plays a crucial role and acts as the body’s natural detoxifier, filtering out toxins from the blood, breaking down harmful substances, and metabolizing drugs and alcohol. The liver also plays a crucial role in digestion by producing bile, which helps break down fats and absorb nutrients. But sadly, the erratic lifestyle habits have placed the liver health at risk. Dr. Shubham Vatsya, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at Fortis Vasant Kunj recently shared a reel on Instagram and mentioned that our liver heals silently, if you give it the right support. As per him, small, daily habits can genuinely reduce inflammation, improve fat metabolism, and protect the liver from long-term damage. He adds that adding the right morning and evening drinks can make a measurable difference in just a few weeks. He recommends choosing beverages that help the body detox, reduce oxidative stress, and keep the metabolism steady. In the video, he shared 3 best drinks and their right quantity to reverse fatty liver naturally. Scroll down to read the details.

What does the study say about coffee?

The study titled Coffee and Liver Disease, states that coffee consumption is associated with improvement in liver enzymes (ALT, AST, and GGTP), especially in individuals with risk for liver disease. Coffee intake of more than 2 cups per day in patients with preexisting liver disease has been shown to be associated with lower incidence of fibrosis and cirrhosis, lower hepatocellular carcinoma rates, as well as decreased mortality. The study also states that there is experimental evidence that coffee with high CGA concentrations can modulate glucose intolerance and improve/decrease nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) development in obese rats.

Green Tea

He further explains that green tea is the second best beverage to reverse fatty liver naturally. He states, green tea contains catechins and EGCG compounds which reduce liver fat and inflammation. 3-4 cups of brewed green tea is safe and beneficial, he claims and warns to avoid high-dose green tea extract as it can increase liver stress.

It is also mentioned in the study that green tea contains thousands of bioactive compounds out of which one third is contributed by polyphenols which are mostly flavonoids.Catechins are one of the main flavonoids in green tea has recently attracted attention for its use in various diseases due to its anti-aging, anti-cancer, anti-parkinsonism, anti-stroke, anti diabetic, anti-caries and anti anti-bacterial, anti-diarrheal, anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative and anti-atherosclerotic properties.
