This is what Elon Musk eats for breakfast daily

Elon Musk, a billionaire entrepreneur and business leader known for founding and leading some of the world’s most influential technology companies is known for his strong presence on social media and his influence on industries ranging from automotive to space travel. As a global leader, his daily routine has always been a talking point on social media platforms. He also has quite often talked about his daily routine and how he manages all his work with a limited 6 hours of sleep. As a true foodie, he has always advocated for the practice of eating tasty food. In one of his interviews he mentioned, "I'd rather eat tasty food and live a shorter life." Scroll down to read the details of his breakfast and more.

Elon's morning routine

According to The Wall Street Journal 2023 interview, he usually goes to bed around 3 a.m. and sleeps for six hours. So, he's typically waking up around 9 a.m. each day and starts his day with a protein-rich breakfast of omelette and coffee.

Elon's daily breakfast

Speaking on "The Katie Miller Podcast" in December 2025, he gave an updated glimpse into his morning routine, saying his typical breakfast is "steak and eggs and coffee."

What is Steak and Eggs

Steak and eggs is a one-plate high-protein meal option that combines a cooked steak with eggs, usually served as a hearty breakfast or brunch. Traditionally, it includes steak-typically a cut like ribeye, sirloin, or filet, seasoned and pan-seared or grilled. And it includes eggs-which can be fried, scrambled or poached. If we talk about the origin of this meal, it is strongly associated with American cuisine, especially as a filling breakfast. It gained popularity in the mid-20th century in the United States, particularly among working-class communities and later as part of diner culture. Also, it is reported that this combination is served to astronauts by NASA before space missions because of its high protein content.

Coffee as fuel

Coffee is often described as fuel, because it boosts energy, alertness, and performance. Its key ingredient is caffeine that blocks a brain chemical called adenosine, which normally makes you feel tired. At the same time, it also increases adrenaline levels, which can improve physical performance and reaction time. Also, black coffee has almost zero calories, which means you get energy without calories.

His love for donut

In 2023, he expressed his fondness for donuts in a tweet, where he mentioned that he eats one every morning, defying advice that sugar is unhealthy. Over the years Musk has admitted he doesn't have the healthiest diet. "I'd rather eat tasty food and live a shorter life," Musk said in 2020 on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast as well.
