Burgers for Langar!

Early this year, the famous Bangla Sahib Gurudwara of New Delhi started the trend of giving saplings as prasad. The change was initiated keeping the air pollution in mind. And now, the Gurudwaras in Punjab have brought in a change in Langar and we are in love with it. Scroll below to know more about it.

2/5

What’s the change in Langar?

We all know that the traditional Langar includes vegetarian foods like roti, dal, chawal and sabzi. Now, the Gurudwaras in Punjab have expanded the menu that includes dishes like pizza and burger. Apart from these two, the extended menu also includes aloo tikki, poha, upma, manchurian, sandwich, chaat and coffee. If we go by the reports, around 70 langars have been set up for the visitors to Sultanpur Lodhi by various Sikh community people, but mainly by the Gurdwaras from across the country. What’s the idea behind the change?

According to those associated with the initiative, the idea is to feed poor the food of the rich as Langar and make them happy.
4/5

Is it a good change?

Those who diligently follow the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev ji, believe that he always preached the idea of simple living and thus serving foods like pizza and burger is not apt and one should stick to traditional Langar that includes- roti, dal, chawal and sabzi.
5/5

Takeaway

With due respect to the philosophy and those who wish to bring in change, the best thing we could see out of this is the happy faces, who will sleep with a full stomach, because of the initiative and that is what we are loving.
