This piece of information talks about 8 morning drinks that can naturally lower blood sugar and how you can make them easily at home.

For the unversed, blood sugar or glucose is the main source of energy for the body's cells. And the main source of glucose is the food you eat, especially carbohydrates, and is regulated by the hormone insulin. Glucose works as fuel for the brain, muscles and every cell in the body.

Methi Water

Why it helps: Also known as Fenugreek Water,it is rich in soluble fiber and compounds that improve insulin sensitivity. The study also states that daily supplementation of fenugreek helps reduce blood sugar and LDL cholesterol. As per experts,

regular intake of fenugreek is said to lower fasting blood glucose levels, making it useful for long-term blood sugar management.


How to make: Take 1 tsp fenugreek seeds and soak them in 1 cup of water overnight. Next morning, drink the water on an empty stomach and later you can chew the seeds or discard them.

Cinnamon Water

Why it helps: Cinnamon is said to help slow glucose absorption and may lower fasting blood sugar as well. The National Library of Medicine states that consuming ground cinnamon helps reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetic patients. The anti-inflammatory properties of cinnamon also help reduce chronic inflammation, which is linked to many health conditions including heart disease and arthritis.


How to make: Boil 1.5 cups of water and add 1 stick or 1 tsp ground cinnamon to it. Simmer for 5–7 minutes. Let it cool slightly and drink warm.

Why it helps: Also known as Indian Gooseberry, they are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants that keep blood sugar under control. A study by the National Library of Medicine states that oral intake of amla helps decrease fasting postprandial blood glucose levels in diabetic patients.
How to make: Mix 2 tbsp fresh amla juice in ½ cup water. Stir and drink it plain or add a pinch of turmeric or black salt for taste.

Apple Cider Vinegar Drink

Why it helps: It is said that ACV improves insulin sensitivity and also lowers post-meal glucose spikes. The study by the National Library of Medicine says that ACV helps reduce fasting blood glucose, hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c), and LDL cholesterol in type 2 diabetic patients. Also, ACV is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which help balance skin pH and may reduce acne or dandruff.


How to make: Add 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup lukewarm water. Add a pinch of cinnamon or a few drops of lemon juice. Stir well and consume.

Why it helps: Jamun seeds powder is said to regulate glucose metabolism and even Ayurveda suggests consuming it for diabetes. A study by the Journal of Medical Society, supplementation with jamun seed powder improves glycemic control significantly in type 2 DM with poorly controlled glycemic levels on diet and OHA.
How to make: Take 1 cup of warm water, add tsp jamun seed powder and stir well. Drink it on an empty stomach.

How to make: Take 1 cup water, add 2 tbsp of fresh aloe vera juice to it. Mix well and drink.

How to make: To make this juice, blend ½ a bitter gourd with ½ cup water. Strain and drink slowly on an empty stomach.
