Health benefits of eggs

Eggs are often loved as a breakfast delight; after all, they are a superfood rich in protein and other necessary nutrients. But how about using the protein content to make a power-packed lunch? Also called nature's multivitamins, they are packed with essential amino acids and key nutrients like vitamin B12, vitamin D, selenium, and choline that support muscle growth and repair, help maintain hormonal balance, and keep you feeling full for longer. The study titled The Health Benefits of Egg Protein states that egg protein has been recognized to be highly digestible and an excellent source of essential amino acids, with the highest attainable protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score. Egg protein has been shown to decrease malnutrition in underdeveloped countries, possibly increase height in children, and protect against kwashiorkor. Egg protein has been demonstrated to be important to skeletal muscle health and protective against sarcopenia. Egg protein also can decrease appetite, resulting in a reduction in the caloric intake from the next meal and weight reduction. Here we have curated a list of five types of protein-rich egg curries that are perfect for lunch. Take a look.

2/6

Andhra-Style Spicy Egg Curry

This is one of the fiery and flavorful curries made with boiled eggs simmered in a tangy tomato-onion gravy, and is spiced with red chili powder, curry leaves, and mustard seeds. This South Indian egg curry is best served with steamed rice or dosa and is packed with protein from eggs and lentil-based masalas.

3/6

Punjabi Dhaba Egg Curry

As the name suggests, this egg curry is inspired from the preparations served on dhabas in Punjab and is a very rustic, hearty, and full of flavour curry, where boiled eggs are cooked in a rich onion-tomato masala with garam masala and kasuri methi along with mustard oil. It’s a great post-workout meal, offering high-quality protein with a comforting, home-style taste and goes well with rumali roti, tandoori roti or butter naan.

4/6

Kerala Egg Curry with Coconut Milk

Also known as Mutta Curry, this is a creamy, mildly spiced, and aromatic curry that uses coconut milk, curry leaves, red chilli powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, black pepper powder, and mustard seeds to balance the protein-rich eggs with healthy fats. It is best served with appam, idiyappam, parotta, or steamed red rice.

5/6

Bengali Dimer Jhol

It is a classic Bengali dish, which is very light, soupy and consists of boiled eggs, potatoes, and a subtle mix of spices like turmeric, cumin, and ginger. This dish is lower in oil but rich in protein and flavour and is best served with steamed white rice.

6/6

Chettinad Egg Curry

It is one of the spiciest egg curries and is known for its bold flavors and freshly ground spice mix that uses roasted coconut, fennel, pepper, and curry leaves along with red chilli, pepper, and other spices. It offers a deeply satisfying, protein-packed experience and is best served with idiyappam, parotta, or steamed rice.
