Benefits of apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) shows modest benefits in studies for blood sugar control, lipid profiles, and weight management. The study titled The improvement effect of apple cider vinegar as a functional food, states that daily consumption of ACV may have beneficial effects in controlling blood glucose indices and lipid profile in patients with type 2 diabetes. For the unversed, Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a plant-based food product made from apples at home or industrially. Its main component is acetic acid. In addition, it contains pectin, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, ascorbic acid, thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid, niacin, pantothenic acid and a variety of polyphenol compounds such as catechin, epicatechin, gallic acid, caffeic acid, syringic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid and chlorogenic acid.

Benefits of fenugreek seeds

In his Instagram reel video, Sadhguru called it 'miracle medicine'. He said that drinking fenugreek seed tea once a week or once in a month can help detoxify the digestive system, boost the heart health and cleanse the liver. He calls it a cleansing agent, which can further aid in reducing signs of many ailments. These seeds have been traditionally used for their medicinal properties, especially in managing blood sugar levels. Rich in soluble fiber, they slow down the absorption of carbohydrates in the digestive tract, helping prevent sudden spikes in glucose after meals. Also, they contain compounds like 4-hydroxyisoleucine that can improve insulin sensitivity and support the body’s natural glucose regulation. According to a study titled Effect of Fenugreek on Hyperglycemia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis, fenugreek is used for medicinal purposes in various traditions. Some studies have demonstrated that the seeds of this plant may have an anti-diabetic effect by lowering fasting blood sugar levels and improving glucose tolerance. Alkaloids such as trigonelline and Fenugrecin present in fenugreek have been shown to have hypoglycemic activity, whereas soluble fibers such as glucomannan fiber and 4-hydroxyisoleucine (4-OH Ile) amino acids stimulate the production of insulin from the pancreas. Furthermore, a clinical study showed that fenugreek’s antidiabetic effect was accomplished by increasing insulin sensitivity. In contrast, some studies have found that fenugreek seeds may decrease postprandial insulin and glucose levels (PPG). Additionally, a few longer-term trials with fenugreek have also demonstrated decreases in fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and PPG as well as glycated hemoglobin.

Benefits of turmeric

As per experts, curcumin in turmeric reduces inflammation and improves insulin action. According to a study titled Curcumin and Diabetes: A Systematic Review, curcumin could favorably affect most of the leading aspects of diabetes, including insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and islet apoptosis and necrosis. In addition, curcumin could prevent the deleterious complications of diabetes. And according to Sadhguru, "Consumption of turmeric on an empty stomach is a very effective cleanser. This may not be effective after you get cancer, but otherwise, swallowing a marble-sized turmeric ball and neem ball first thing in the morning acts as a great cleanser and takes away the cancerous cells in your body."
