Rose Apple

Also known as Jambuphalam in Sanskrit and Naaval Pazham in Tamil, it is a food popularised by the Panchatantra, which is a collection of ancient Indian animal fables in Sanskrit. Rose apple is known as a juicy fruit that’s sweet as nectar. The mention of this particular fruit comes in the chapter Loss of Gains, in which there is a story of ‘The monkey and The Crocodile’. In the story, the monkey named Raktamukha lives on a tree of rose apples.

Spinach Puree

The connection of popular cartoon character Popeye with spinach is something that we have all witnessed since childhood. He used to have spinach which increased his strength enormously so that he could fight his enemies. This cartoon led several mothers to show their kids, how eating spinach can make them strong and healthy. For those, who don’t know this, spinach contains a natural steroid-like chemical called ecdysterone which increases muscle mass just like Popeye. But, it happens only when it is taken in large doses.

Samosa

It is undeniably one of the most amazing snacks of Indian cuisine and is popularised by the famous cartoon character Motu from Motu-Patlu. If you have seen this cartoon series, you will know what we mean. Motu always says his mind doesn’t work on an empty stomach and thus whenever he eats samosas, his mind becomes super active.

Motichoor ke Laddoo

If you have seen Chhota Bheem, you would certainly remember the cartoon character Bheem eating laddoos to gain some strength to fight off the evil people. This is one of the reasons why his friends and family always present him with these amazing laddoos.

6/11

Layered Sandwich

You might be wondering who loves sandwiches? Well, remember the popular American cartoon series Scooby-Doo, where the dog Scooby is always eating sandwiches? He loves binging on these layered sandwiches that have tomato, cheese, lettuce, avocado, ham, fried eggs and pickles stuffed inside various layers of bread. It also gave rise to the layered sandwiches that looked like a tower.

7/11

Chilli Fries

It’s a dish that the popular cartoon character Ben 10 used to have regularly in the whole series. He once said in the 66th episode of Ben 10:Omniverse that “Chili Fries and Meatball Subs are a ‘sometime food’, not an ‘anytime food’.” These fries were typically made with potato fries loaded with chilli cheese sauce, jalapeno and onions.

8/11

Baozi

If you are a fan of the animated film Kung Fu Panda, you would know what we mean. The film’s main character ‘Po - The Dragon Warrior’ used to stuff his mouth with Baozi because he loved them so much that he could eat a lot of them in one go. It’s a kind of dumpling or bread-like bun that’s made with thin sheets of refined flour and stuffed with grated seasonal vegetables/beef, chicken and shrimp meat as well as sauces such as soy sauce and oyster sauce and steamed until soft. For the same reason, it’s called a dumpling-on-the-go.

9/11

Doughnuts/Donut

A delicious dessert made from leavened fried dough is a favourite of the 90’s famous cartoon ‘The Simpsons’. The whole family of Simpsons used to enjoy ‘Glazed Doughnuts’ dipped in the strawberry flavoured white chocolate truffle icing and topped with rainbow sprinkles.

10/11

Swiss Cheese

The famous cartoon Tom & Jerry, where we got to see the love-hate friendship of Tom ‘The cat’ and Jerry ‘The Mouse’ is the cartoon series which we all remember for cheese. Jerry used to run around and eat cheese with big holes in it always. This Swiss Cheese has a savoury and nutty taste.

11/11

Honey

Oh, the sweet nectar that you love to have in your breakfast cereals, is not just your favourite but Pooh Bear's as well. It was Pooh from the popular cartoon series ‘Winnie-the Pooh’ who loved the taste of this fresh honey, which he used to get with the help of his friends Piglet, Kanga, Tigger, Roo and Eeyore.
