Celebrity-approved tricolour looks

Republic Day is not just all about watching the grand parade carried out at Rajpath, but it also involves a flag-hoisting ceremony in your locality, preparing delicious afternoon snacks and get-togethers at home, and even spending the national holiday out with your friends and family. While keeping up with our high spirits and enthusiasm, it is very important to dress up well and look poised, sophisticated, and elegant. Let’s seek inspiration from some of the Bollywood celebrities and create a Republic Day ensemble that is worth coming back to.

Sara Ali Khan

Opt for a plain white salwar-kameez set, which is usually an essential outfit found in every girl’s wardrobe. You can never go wrong with white, and Sara Ali Khan’s Patiala-style salwar-kameez look tells all about it. Pair it up with a tricolour dupatta, or even opt for a multicolour Bandhani dupatta, giving it a pop. You can experiment with white kurtas and bottoms just like the diva, or you can opt for any other design, keeping the monochrome aesthetic alive.

Kajol

If you wish to go all ethnic, then take cues from Kajol’s saree look and opt for a monochrome look with a splash of colour. She draped a plain white silk drape with a bright border and opted for a contrasting blouse that matched her saree’s border, giving it an edge. You can also choose a completely different blouse shade and style it accordingly, making your Republic Day look like no other.

Hina Khan

Who says tricolour fashion can only be possible in ethnics? If you wish to carry a trendy look, then opt for this look of Hina Khan, which is comfortable and simply iconic. She opted for a three-piece co-ord set featuring a printed bottom with a contrasting white inner top, and instead of following the monochrome aesthetic, she took things to another level by opting for a white and green oversized long half jacket.

Vicky Kaushal

Men can go all ethnic on this big day, and by tradition, we’re not asking you to simply wear a pair of kurta and pyjama, but to amplify the look with a coloured kurta like saffron or a tricolour pick and team it with a pair of jeans or your pyjamas. But, if you wish to look completely poised, then pick a white textured kurta, match it up with a pyjama, and opt for a bandhgala-style half-jacket, just like our Punjabi munda Vicky Kaushal did.

Priyanka Chopra

This contemporary look is for the divas who wish to keep things simple and stay away from the usual traditional fashion aesthetics of Republic Day. Well, for you girls, we have our desi girl giving fresh and simple style notes. The diva simply wore a pair of blue jeans and matched a white tank top, which she neatly tucked inside her denims. She opted for a tricolour stole or sleek dupatta and casually wore it across her neck like a scarf, making things subtle but iconic as well.
