Uttar Pradesh

The traditional gold jewellery style Thewa is a gold pendant-style necklace or bracelet which is worn by the bride on her wedding day. The bride is allowed to change the design or pattern, but it looks more like a choker-style than a necklace covering the neck area.

In Bengali tradition, a married woman wears a white bandle made of a conch shell called shakha and a red coral bangle known as pola, a pair each in both hands. It is worn by the bride in the wee hours of the marriage.

Women in Arunachal Pradesh are commonly seen wearing brass bangles or cane anklets which are regarded sacred and valuable and are passed from mother to daughter through generations. They also wear a necklace made from coins which are considered to be lucky and keep away the negative energy.
