It's time to step up your desi glam

A draped saree and flared lehenga have one thing in common – both have a floor-length detailing which looks perfect on a lean and elongated body structure. But if you’re not one of those girls, then fear not; as you step up your foot fashion and opt for the right pair of heels, which will make you stand tall and confident. Choose the appropriate pair of heels for the type of occasion and become the absolute fashion game changer. Follow these 5 shoe-height rules with your saree and lehenga, and see the change.

Before wearing your saree or lehenga, finalise your shoes first

When you are about to wear your saree or lehenga fit, you might start with choosing the right pair of shoes. We often think of it as less important, but this plays a major role in uplifting your fit. The heel length should coordinate with the hemline and should not look too short or too long so that it drags all the way on the floor. Therefore, opt for a decent pair of heels and then style your lehenga and drape the saree while matching the hemline length, which should swiftly fall on your ankles.

Know the ideal length

We see women dragging the hemline on the floor, or at times, the saree pleats are draped and tucked in super high, which looks bizarre and ruins the whole look of the ensemble. Understand that it shouldn’t skim the floor, carrying the dirt and making you trip on the floor. Even when it's too short, it loses the charm. The best rule is to keep the hemline around ½ to 1 inch above the ground with the pair of shoes you’ve chosen for yourself. This length allows perfect movement, giving an elegant overall look with a polished finish.

The charm of heels vs flats

Start with a walk test when you’ve selected your footwear, and then test it with your flowy outfit. If you’re choosing a pair of flats, then walk up and down, check the hemline fall, and the overall posture with the look. But if you’re walking in heels, then see whether the heel is not creating a mess, and you can easily walk in without tripping. Keep the hemline a bit shorter than normal, but in the case of flats, leave the fabric a little long.

Stilettos for slim and lightweight outfits

Stilettos elevate your outfit by making the whole fit look bold and elegant. But most girls prefer wearing stilettos with the ensemble, which are lightweight and easy to manage. They play a huge role in giving you a taller and leaner look and enhance the saree or lehenga’s sleek line. Prevent the saree from wrapping up together around the hemline, as it easily happens, making you trip.

Opt for block heels with heavier ensembles

If your ensemble is very heavy and weighs down the fabric, making the hemline uneven because you need to drag it, it’s time to use block heels then. Block heels balance the weight by giving you a stable platform, which prevents the lehenga from dragging under the feet. It also provides extra support, making the hemline stay as perfect as it should be. Also, you get the elevated and lean posture, making you look flawless and comfortable.
