Diesel livestreamed its Milan Fashion Week preps

Diesel opted for an unconventional approach by livestreaming its Milan Fashion Week preparations, showcasing the behind-the-scenes hustle and bustle of atelier work, fittings, and catwalk setup prior to its runway show on Wednesday. Creative director Glenn Martens' initiative aimed to engage its online audience, featuring them on giant screens as they watched the show alongside in-person guests and listened to backstage calls as models made their entrances.

Martens' Diesel collection debuted with a predominantly dark palette, featuring grey shirts, matching black shiny coats and trousers, as well as vests and dresses with cut-out sheer tops. The runway showcased a mix of leopard and floral prints on dresses, shaggy and fluffy coats, and an array of denim looks.

Meanwhile, at Fendi, a moment of disruption occurred when a protester from animal rights organization PETA briefly stormed the catwalk, brandishing a banner with the message "Animals Are Not Clothing." The protester, adorned with "Turn your back on animal skin" on her back, was swiftly escorted off the stage.

Alberta Ferretti's runway spotlighted pleats and metallic embellishments, featuring long black pleated skirts paired with lace-trimmed tops, wide-legged grey trousers matched with black sheer shirts, and brown trouser suits complemented by orange or green shirts. The collection included sleek floor-length dresses and sparkly short dresses, all adorned with metallic embellishments on jackets, tops, and evening wear.

Despite challenges in the fashion market, particularly in Europe and America, Italian fashion group Aeffe, which oversees brands like Ferretti and Moschino, remains optimistic about the 2024 outlook. Aeffe's Executive Chairman Massimo Ferretti expressed confidence in the upcoming collections, emphasizing their awareness of the complexities while aiming for positive results.

Milan Fashion Week continues until Monday, marking the third leg of the month-long catwalk calendar, which includes New York, London, and Paris. Etro and Cavalli are among the Italian fashion houses set to unveil their new lines during this prestigious event.
