From Sarees to Temple Jewellery

Lately, South Indian celebrity weddings have been dominating our timelines, and frankly, I can't get enough of them. Instead of the usual cookie-cutter bridal templates, these couples are championing deep-rooted traditions, heirloom weaves, and highly personal details that actually mean something. If you're currently putting together your own bridal mood board, let's break down the fashion choices of five iconic couples whose wedding wardrobes completely took over the internet.

Rashmika and Vijay Deverakonda: Walking in gold

Rashmika and Vijay Deverakonda's wedding was nothing more than a magical dream. Taking over the internet with their majestic looks, the bride walked in an orangish drape from Anamika Khanna and stole the show in 11 statement temple jewellery pieces from Shree Jewellers, Hyderabad. The duo looked as if they came straight out of the sets of 'Bahubali' and nailed the Dravidian styling, where many compared them to looking like Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan: A Regal Affair in Red

When Nayanthara finally shared her wedding photos, it felt like a total reset for modern bridal style. Rather than going the expected traditional route, the superstar wore a custom vermilion red lace saree crafted by JADE by Monica and Karishma. The craftsmanship was stunning: the sleeves featured delicate Goddess Lakshmi motifs, while the tone-on-tone embroidery drew inspiration directly from Hoysala temple architecture. She finished the look with a show-stopping emerald choker from Goenka India. Vignesh matched her energy perfectly in a handcrafted JADE kurta and veshti, specifically designed to represent the four pheras.

Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth: The Masters of Minimalism

If anyone has proven that less truly is more, it’s Aditi and Siddharth. Radiating old-world romance at a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy, Aditi bypassed heavy bridal couture altogether. She instead wore a custom beige-gold handwoven Maheshwari tissue lehenga designed by Sabyasachi. Her accessories included a traditional kempu choker and fresh mallipoo woven into her braid. Famously, she skipped the intricate mehendi for a bold, minimalist half-moon alta design. Siddharth echoed this effortless aesthetic in an understated white silk Sabyasachi kurta.(Image Credits: Instagram)

Keerthy Suresh and Antony Thattil: Vibrant Traditional Grace

For her gorgeous destination wedding in Goa, Keerthy served up the kind of traditional inspiration that immediately goes viral. She opted for a bold mustard-yellow and green silk saree from Anita Dongre, rich with heavy zari detailing. But the real scene-stealer? Her classic Iyengar bridal bun (the Aandal Kondai), styled flawlessly with antique gold temple jewelry from Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers. Antony kept his look beautifully grounded, complementing his bride in a crisp ivory silk veshti paired with a green-bordered angavastram.

Varun Tej and Lavanya Tripathi: A Manish Malhotra Fairytale

Let’s be real: any list of iconic star weddings has to include Varun and Lavanya’s gorgeous destination ceremony in Tuscany. Looking absolutely ethereal, Lavanya chose a bespoke ruby-red Kanjeevaram silk. It was a Manish Malhotra creation that managed to strike that rare, perfect balance between deep South Indian roots and heavy-hitting modern couture. But the detail that completely elevated the whole look? Her personalized veil. The moniker 'VarunLav' was meticulously stitched into the fabric using gold zari, shimmering beautifully whenever it caught the light. Varun certainly didn't fade into the background, either. Matching her designer energy, he anchored her vibrant red by wearing a heavily textured, ivory Manish Malhotra sherwani.(Image Credits: Instagram)
