An ode to India without the cliches

Pharrell Williams’ Spring/Summer 2026 menswear show for Louis Vuitton wasn’t just another fashion week moment - it was a full-blown cultural love letter. Set inside the iconic Place Georges Pompidou in Paris, Pharrell transformed the space into a vibrant ode to modern Indian style, bringing in rich textiles, bold colours, and even architecture rooted in the subcontinent's soul.

No turbans, just turmeric tones

In an era of cultural borrowing, Pharrell took the high-road by avoiding token “Indian” pieces, no kurtas, no turbans , just pure inspiration from palette and spirit. Backstage, he summed it up best: “You’ll see turmeric in the line. You’ll see cinnamon. You’ll see ‘coffee indigo’ denim.” These aren’t just pretty shades - they’re a nod to India’s spice markets, coffee plantations, and dye traditions. Pharrell gave us Indian flavour without falling into costume mode, and that kind of subtle elegance is exactly why the show stood out.

3/7

Textiles with real roots

This wasn’t some glossy Instagram moment - it was real worldwide respect. Pharrell spent time in India, dove into local bazaars, shook hands with artisans, and really got into those embroidery techniques. As he put it, “What art and painting is to Paris, textiles and embroidery is to India.” And it shows, these clothes breathe with craftsmanship and detail.

4/7

Snakes and ladders as set design?

Only Pharrell would turn the Pompidou’s stage into a giant Snakes and Ladders (Saanp-Seedi) board. Pharrell’s LV show gave India the coolest couture twist) board. Created by Indian architect Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai, the setup was playful, meaningful, and bold - literally envisioning life’s ups, downs, and endless possibilities. It was a playground for grown-ups, runway-style.

Rahman surprise: New track, new vibes

Then came the audio encore. None other than Oscar-winning maestro A.R. Rahman popped up front row, debuting a new collab with Pharrell, called 'Yaara'. Their chemistry was real - shared laughs, backstage photos, and live music that fused Rahman’s soulful vocals with Pharrell’s boundary-free sound. It all felt like a genuine celebration, not just a celebrity cameo.

6/7

Gratitude, not borrowing

Pharrell closed with a heartfelt layer of sincerity. “I always move in gratitude… I left with gratitude, and I am here… saying ‘thank you’.” That sentiment translated into every stitch, every song cue, every step across that giant Snakes & Ladders board. No appropriation, just appreciation and a fashion moment with real meaning.

7/7

Respect and rhythm

Pharrell’s LV show did what fashion often claims but rarely achieves - brought global inspiration, not imitation. It was a style statement rooted in respect, craft, and cultural curiosity. In a sea of predictable runways, Pharrell delivered something fresh: a runway that felt like travel, taste, and true emotional exchange. Bravo, P.
