How to pluck your eyebrows at home for better regrowth

Easy guide to tweezing your eyebrows correctly

You must have realised by now that a perfect set of eyebrows can instantly frame your face. But, with one wrong pluck, everything can go wrong. So, you need to be quite precise and patient and must understand the natural shape of your face instead of chasing the usual trend. If you’re in a hurry and need to groom your eyebrows at home, keep it quite minimal and in control, as over-plucking can also lead to damaged hair follicles and can even stop the regrowth process permanently. Let’s understand the process and follow the guide.

2/6

Step 1: Prep your skin first

Before picking up the tweezers, wash your face first to remove oil, excess makeup, and dirt. Use a warm compress or subtle steaming to open the pores. This usually makes the process easier and reduces pain. Understand that clean skin means less irritation and a smoother plucking process.

Step 2: Map your eyebrows

This is where most people go wrong. Start with an eyebrow pencil and outline the natural shape of your eyebrows. Your starting point should align with your nose, followed by an arch right above the pupil and the tail at the outer eye corner. Fill in the eyebrows lightly to see if you’re inside the safer zone. Now, only pluck hair outside this outline.

Step 3: Trim before starting plucking

Use slanted and sharp tweezers, which give the best grip, and do this under good natural lighting with a big mirror in front of you. Brush your eyebrows upwards using a spoolie and slowly trim the extra-long hair using small scissors. This helps you to see the real shape before you start the plucking process.

Step 4: Start the actual plucking process

Stretch the skin, which reduces the pain, and grab the hair from the root. Keep pulling in the direction of hair growth and remove one hair at a time. Remember, plucking against the growth can damage the follicles. Follow the less-is-more rule and only remove the stray hairs that are outside the natural eyebrows. Next, focus on the area between the brows and under the arch section, but do not go overboard with the process.

Step 5: Post-plucking care is highly important

Step back from the mirror and then check the whole look. Avoid harsh skincare application just after you’ve done the process; instead, use a cold compress to calm the skin. Also, skip alcohol-based products for a few hours, as it can lead to intense redness, immense irritation, and eventually breakouts.
