Super easy ginger skin care treatment

More than a savoury spice in the kitchen, ginger is a great addition to your skincare routine. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants, it can be used as a toner, mask, scrub, oil, and more. This spicy root has the ability to reduce the appearance of premature wrinkles and fine lines, fade scars, keep your scalp healthy, and improve acne health as well. Let’s learn more about the benefits of raw ginger and how we can use it on our faces.

Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

The development of free radicals is a natural byproduct created by our body and comes under the normal metabolic process. They are also formed from external factors such as air pollutants, cigarette smoke, and industrial chemicals, which lead to the early showing of wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. The application of ginger on our facial skin can protect against this oxidative stress, as it is a great source of antioxidants and may help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles at an early age.

Say goodbye to facial scars

The antioxidant content of ginger promotes healthy blood flow throughout the body, which helps the scars to blend back into our regular skin colour. Ginger also pumps up the volume of collagen production as the collagen fibres knit themselves back together to build a scar, and the application of ginger on the skin helps prevent this.

Improves the state of your acne

Brimming with a phytochemical known as gingerol, it is filled with anti-inflammatory goodness and treats and prevents mostly all types of acne. Ginger also helps reduce the amount of extra sebum produced by our skin. It does not directly cure your acne but controls the sebum production, which most of the time leads to acne creation. Let’s see some ways in which you can apply ginger to your facial skin.

Active ginger face mask

Apply a fine layer of ginger face mask at home and see the results. You will need 1 tablespoon of ginger juice, 2 tablespoons of rosewater, and ½ tablespoon of honey. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and start with the application process. You might want to hold a warm, wet towel all over your face for a minute to open your pores and then evenly spread the mask across your face to receive the maximum ginger goodness. Let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Active ginger face toner

You can apply this easy-to-make facial toner twice or thrice a week, for which you will need 1 cup of fresh ginger juice and 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey. Mix both of them together and apply the toner to sit on your skin with a cotton pad. Let it sit for 30 minutes and rinse well with lukewarm water. You can apply a lightweight moisturiser afterwards, but always start with a patch test and then apply raw ginger extracts on your face.
