Avoid these 5 wet hair mistakes to save your healthy locks

Stop committing these wet hair mistakes

We all dream of having Rapunzel-like long tresses with a hidden desire to flaunt them like a crowning glory. But, with increased pollution and overuse of chemical treatments, it feels like a far-fetched dream. We also end up committing some silly mistakes unintentionally that create havoc, further destroying the quality and health of our locks. This happens the most when people break the bond while their hair is wet, making them prone to breakage and damage. As our wet hair requires more care, we usually end up doing exactly the opposite. Avoid these 5 wet hair mistakes and save your long tresses.

2/6

Detangle your hair before entering the shower

This sounds like the right thing to do, but we always tend to skip this step. Make sure you always brush your hair before entering the shower so that it is not susceptible to any damage. Also, after brushing, if you feel your locks are too dry and brittle to touch, use a hint of serum or oil and easily run your comb, making the process simpler and more convenient under the shower.

Stop that aggressive combing

One should never brush their wet hair, but even if you decide to, stop that aggressive combing and try to use a leave-in conditioner before. Be gentle at this point and always start from the end, and then work your way up. Also, create sections first and then brush your hand to make the process easier. Understand that your hair is a strand of keratin that behaves like fabric. This bond is at its weakest when it's wet, making it prone to breakage.

Never tie up your wet hair

As mentioned earlier, our tresses are the weakest and most vulnerable when they are wet. It might seem tempting to tie them into a ponytail or a small bun, but if you’re thinking this, then stop yourself from doing this. When you tie your wet hair, the tension increases the moment it dries, making it impossible to untie without creating knots, avoiding grease, and getting a certain shape.

Never blow-dry wet hair

It is simple to blow hot air and dry your locks, but if you’re doing so, please refrain from doing this. Wait for the water to drip out first, and then put your dryer on medium heat. Next, move on to a higher level and then style your hair just the way you like it. Try this simple method and save your tresses from getting tangled.

Never head to bed with wet hair.

If your hair is slightly wet, it is okay to take a nap, but in case it is dripping, then you’re in major trouble. Excess rubbing of your hair strands can damage your hair follicles, leading to breakage. Thus, if you plan to wash your hair at night, draw out the excess water and always use a microfibre towel in this case. You can next blow-dry your strands on medium heat and enjoy waking up to a fresh and voluminous look.
