6-step nighttime routine for a shiny, clean skin

PM Skincare routine

Humidity and heat can take a toll on our skin, especially at night when the skin goes into repair mode. The summer season calls for extra TLC for your skin, considering the hot sun and pollution that might steal your glow over time. A six-step, simple nighttime routine can work wonders in keeping your skin clean, hydrated, and glowing.

2/7

Cleanse your skin

The first step is always cleansing. It is crucial to wash away dirt, oil, and sweat that accumulate throughout the day, especially in humid weather. Use an oil-based cleanser because it removes oil buildup, makeup, and even sunscreen.

3/7

Opt for a double cleanse

Second, this should be followed up by a normal water-based cleanser or a foaming face wash. Toner is optional, as it depends on your skin type and skin needs.

4/7

Moisturise every day

According to Dr. Priya Baliga, consultant dermatologist, Kaya limited, “Moisturising is a must, no matter how humid the weather is. People often skip this step in the belief that their skin doesn’t need it, but a light, pore-friendly moisturizer helps lock in hydration. In hot climates, opt for gel-based or water-based moisturizers that are lightweight and won’t clog your pores.”

5/7

Treating and spot healing

Fourth, night creams or serums are great for targeting specific concerns like pigmentation or fine lines. Look for products with ingredients like vitamin C or retinol, but make sure they are suitable for your skin type. They work best when your skin is in repair mode overnight.

6/7

Hydrate from within

Fifth, hydration is key, so don’t forget to drink plenty of water before bed. Hydrating from within is as important as using the right products. This helps maintain the skin’s elasticity and ensures it stays fresh and dewy, especially in India’s hot and humid environment.

7/7

Don’t miss out on eyes and lips

Lastly, don’t forget your lips and eyes. The skin around the eyes is thinner, and in a humid climate, it’s prone to puffiness. Using an eye cream with caffeine can help reduce swelling. Also, apply a lip balm to keep your lips smooth and prevent dryness.
