5 anti-ageing beverages that actually work

We often obsess over expensive face creams and serums to get that forever youthful glow, but somewhere around the late 30s, we start noticing the mild fine lines and get mini panic attacks. One needs to understand that a well-balanced diet is as important as creams and serums because our skin demands nourishment inside and out. While a well-balanced diet is necessary, let’s start with 5 anti-ageing everyday drinks that you really need to obsess over for healthy, glowing, and youthful skin.

Green tea

Green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant and is brewed at a lower temperature, giving it a lighter and fresher flavour. Brimming with rich polyphenol EGCG, it acts like a powerful antioxidant and helps reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. Green tea helps balance the blood sugar, which is also important in the long run. Consume around 2 cups a day and drink it before 2 in the afternoon to maximise health benefits and for good sleep.

Bone broth

If you’re non-vegetarian and have a taste for savoury flavours, make chicken broth your best friend. Try consuming 2 cups every day and drink it warm, as it supports the function of the intestinal barrier. Brimming with amino acids such as glutamine, proline, arginine, and glycine, it also has phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. It results in a clear and youthful glow, reduces skin inflammation and prevents acne and pimples.

Kefir

Kefir is a fermented milk product and a probiotic powerhouse. It contains 60 strains of bacteria and yeast that promote a clear gut and play an important role as we age. Consuming plain kefir protects our skin health, immunity, and even mental health, offering maximum skin and health benefits. Start with literally 2-3 sips per day, and then gradually, with age, you can go up to a single cup.

Turmeric milk

Known as ‘golden milk’ in India, turmeric milk has been revered since the Ayurvedic days. Consume hot milk with one teaspoon of turmeric powder and one curcumin, which is indeed the ‘star’ ingredient. This drink contains rich anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which reduce inflammation, fight free radicals, and even improve collagen production. Its healing properties also provide an anti-ageing boost. A whole glass every day before going to bed is more than enough.

Coconut water

Coconut water is ‘the’ anti-ageing miracle. It is a natural hydrator and is packed with electrolytes, cytokinins, and potassium. The rich plant hormones slow down the ageing process and hydrate the skin from the inside. It keeps your skin soft and supple and is one of the best anti-ageing drinks with a minimal amount of calories. It is a perfect detox water and should be consumed every day, first thing in the morning. One glass per day is more than enough.
