new delhi: industry captains on sunday expressed shock at the death of congress leader madhavrao scindia saying the country had lost a dynamic and forward looking leader who understood the perspective of indian industry and the socio-economic dimension of liberalisation. "scindia was a leader who understood the perspectives of indian industry and had very close interface with the chamber on globalisation and the state of the economy," ficci president chirayu amin said.
cii president sanjiv goenka said, "scindia was a dynamic and forward looking leader and the chamber had close interaction when he was railway minister. the country has lost a great son and a future hope." expressing deep shock and sorrow, assocham president raghu mody said: "scindia was a upcoming, dynamic and reforming leader. the void space created by his death will be difficult to fill in for his dedicated pro-poor policies." despite coming from the royal family of gwalior, scindia always had in mind the interest of the down-trodden masses, mody said. as railway minister, scindia tended to understand the cross-subsidisation of tariff with some sympathy, amin said. scindia had discussions about socio-economic dynamism of liberalisation, with specific interest in education and health care, with the chamber last week, he said. the former congress leader had interest in future of knowledge-based industries - biotech, information technology and entertainment, amin said adding he often took a stance for the industry rather than being a political leader.
