Cyclone 'Remal' centers near Sagar Island and Khepupara

Cyclone 'Remal' over the north Bay of Bengal has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm. According to an update issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8 am on Sunday, it was centered approximately 290 km south-southeast of Khepupara and 270 km south-southeast of Sagar Island. Cyclone to bring strong winds across Sagar Island-Khepupara region

Kolkata Police sets up control room for cyclone coordination efforts

A control room has been established at the Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar to oversee the coordination of state agency efforts. According to a senior police officer, ten Kolkata police teams have been dispatched to the ten police divisions within the city.
