​​6.5 lakh people affected from second wave of flooding in Assam​

​Assam's flood situation remained critical on Tuesday, with over 6.5 lakh people affected by the second wave of flooding. The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted a rescue operation, saving 13 stranded fishermen from the severely-hit Dibrugarh district. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) had requested the IAF to rescue the fishermen from Hatia Ali, a 'char' (sandbar) area in Dibrugarh, where they were trapped in the floodwaters. Dibrugarh district, severely affected in flood wave

Dibrugarh district has been severely affected in the current wave of flooding, with the major town in Upper Assam inundated for the sixth consecutive day. An ASDMA bulletin reported that 6,71,167 people are reeling under floodwaters in 67 revenue circles across 20 districts, including Biswanath, Cachar, Charaideo, Darrang, Chirang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Majuli, Karimganj, Tamulpur, Tinsukia, and Nalbari. ​​Extremely heavy rainfall expected for next 2 days in Arunachal ​

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh over the next two days.
