JAMMU: Nine people were killed on Thursday when a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into Chenab river in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Nine bodies have been recovered from the river so far, police said. The toll may go up as rescue teams were searching for more bodies in the river, they said adding exact number of the passengers travelling in the ill-fated bus was not yet ascertained.
The State Transport Corporation bus, which was on its way from Kishtwar to Doda town, skidded off the road and fell down into Chenab river near Prem Nagar, 187 kilometres from here, at around 9:30 am.
