NEET paper leak accused Yash Yadav seeks interim bail to appear for re-exam
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Tuesday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file its response to an interim bail application moved by NEET-UG paper leak accused Yash Yadav.
The accused has sought 15 days' interim bail to appear for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled on June 21.
The court has granted the agency time to submit its reply and fixed June 12 for the next hearing in the matter.
Court allowed study resources
Earlier this month, the court permitted Yadav to keep books and study material with him to prepare for the upcoming examination.
The court had also sought clarity on whether the National Testing Agency (NTA) would allow him to take the examination despite being an accused in the case and whether he had been issued an admit card.
CBI's allegations in the paper leak case
The CBI has arrested several individuals in connection with the alleged May 3 paper leak case, including Shubham Khairnar, Manisha Waghmare, Prahalad Kulkarni, Manisha Mandhare, Manisha Sanjay Hawaldar, Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, Dr Manoj Shirure and Tejas Harshad Kumar Shah.
All the accused are currently lodged in judicial custody.
During the investigation, it was found that Manisha Waghmare, who works as a beautician, allegedly connected students and parents willing to pay for access to the leaked paper with Dhananjay Lokhande.
Lokhande then supplied the paper to Nashik-based BAMS student Shubham Khairnar, who later forwarded it electronically for profit.
The leaked material allegedly passed through Gurugram-based Yash Yadav before reaching Rajasthan resident Mangilal Biwal, who is accused of distributing it further.
The investigation has since expanded across Maharashtra, Haryana and Rajasthan.
