bhopal: madhya pradesh government has announced the state level awards for bravery to be presented here on the republic day in recognition of their valour. the four recipients of these awards are five-year-old abhishek dube of sahasgarh in banda tehsil of sagar district, nitin choube (18) from sagar, jitendra yadav (21) from mahua in isagarh tehsil of guna district and rakesh kumar soni, a home guard from panna, an official release said here on friday.
a cash award of rs 10,000 and a citation would be given to each recipient but as abhishek is minor, the amount of his award will be deposited in his bank account which he would be able to withdraw on attaining majority. abhishek saved the life of five-year-old amita dube and three-year-old ben choube on september 17, 2001 when they were drowning in a five meter deep nullah. nitin saved the life of six-year-old umesh yadav, on august 2 while the former was drowning in a tank at sagar. jitendra escaped from the clutches of a dacoit gang by pushing a member of the gang into a well. later, he identified two dacoits of the dashrath khangar gang on the basis of which they were arrested. rakesh, a home guard was on duty on baldevji chauraha at panna on january 5, 1999 rgulating the traffic. all of a sudden a live electricity wire broke and fell down. soni safely removed the wire, thus, saving passersby from getting an electric shock.
