Sivasankar. S.S of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (
DMK) won the Kunnam constituency with a margin of 15557 votes. He garnered 87237 votes, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate Saranya. A came second with 71680 votes.
The DMK has nominated S. S. Sivasankar from Kunnam for the 2026 Tamil Nadu essembly elections, where he will take on TVK candidate M. Revathi in the electoral battle.
Kunnam assembly constituency is located in Perambalur district. The constituency is known for its agrarian base and highly competitive local politics.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s S. S. Sivasankar won the seat with 1,03,922 votes, defeating AIADMK’s R. T. Ramachandran, who secured 97,593 votes. The margin of victory was 6,329 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s R. T. Ramachandran won the seat with 78,218 votes, defeating DMK’s T. Durairaj, who secured 59,422 votes. The margin of victory was 18,796 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, DMK’s S. S. Sivasankar won the seat with 81,723 votes, defeating AIADMK’s Durai. Manivel, who received 58,766 votes. The margin of victory stood at 22,957 votes.
