Begusarai

Bihar's Begusari emerged as the most polluted metropolitant city in the world with an average PM2.5 concentration of 118.9 micrograms per cubic metre. The city did not even figure in the 2022 rankings.

​One of the major cities of the north-east, Guwahati became the second most polluted city in the world. Guwahati had an average PM2.5 concentration of 105 micrograms per cubic metre.

​With the PM2.5 concentration 102.1 micrograms per cubic metre, Delhi claimed the third position in the list of world's most polluted countries. Vehicular emissions, biomass burning and dust are the main reasons behind the pollution.

​Mullanpur

Mainly due to stubble burning and vegicular emmission, Mullanpur Dhaka also found its spot in the list. The city had an average PM2.5 concentration of 100.4 micrograms per cubic metre.

​New Delhi

National capital took the fifth spot in the most polluted metropolitant city in the world. The city also claimed the first spot for the most polluted national capital of the world. The city maintained an average of 100.4 micrograms per cubic metre in PM2.5 concentration

Domestic fuel burning and dust are the major contributors to air pollution. Average PM2.5 Siwan has concentration of 90.6 micrograms per cubic metre in 2023.

Saharsa

Agricultural residue burning is the major factor behind the city's pollution. With an average PM2.5 of 89.4 μg/m³, Saharsa in Bihar claimed the 8th spot in the list.

Goshaingaon

With the PM2.5 concentration 89.3 micrograms per cubic metre, Goshaingaon claimed the ninth position in the list of world's most polluted countries. Vehicular emissions, biomass burning and dust are the main reasons behind the pollution.

Another city from Bihar, Katihar had PM2.5 concentration 89.3 micrograms per cubic metre. Dense population and vehicular emmisions were among the major factors behind city's high pollution Index

Greater Noida​


Agricultural burning and vehicular emissions are the main reasons behind the city's pollution. Greater Noida with PM2.5: 90.3μg/m³, is ranked the 11th city in the most polluted cities.
