Former Prime Minister HD Devegowda, wife Chennamma test positive for Covid-19

NEW DELHI: Former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader

HD Devegowda

and his wife Chennamma have tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.

Devegowda

took to Twitter to inform about his health.


He said he has self-isolated himself along with other members of his family.

The former

PM

also requested people to get tested who might have come in contact with him or his family over the last few days.

cases in India has seen a rapid rise in the last few days, in what is being called the 'second wave' of the pandemic, led by the surge in Maharashtra.

On Wednesday, the country reported 53,480 new cases and 354 related deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the union health ministry in the morning.
