The new Parliament building reflecting the aspirations of 135 crore Indians is being bulit alongside the existing Parliament building

The new building and the existing Parliament building will work together as an ensemble. This will facilitate the smooth and efficient functioning of operations of the Parliament.

Blueprint of the new Parliament building

The new building will have a built-up area of about 65,000 square meters. Its triangular shape ensures optimum space utilisation.

Spacious legislative chambers

The building will house larger chambers for the legislature. A larger Lok Sabha hall with a capacity of up to 888 seats. A larger Rajya Sabha hall with a capacity of up to 384 seats.

A much bigger Lok Sabha floor plan

The Lok Sabha will be three times bigger than 888 seats, with ease of sitting for MPs. The theme is based on India's national bird, Peacock.

Ample seating space in Rajya Sabha


The larger Rajya Sabha hall will have a capacity of up to 284 seats. It is based on India's national flower, Lotus.

Revamped Sansad Bhavan


The Sansad Bhavan will contribute towards economic reviatalisation across the entire construction value chain and generate employment opportunities.

The Constitutional hall symbolically and physically puts the Indian citizens at the heart of our democracy.

The new building will have large Committee rooms equipped with the latest audio-visual systems. It will house functional, purpose-designed spaces to facilitate and deliver higher efficiency

The new building will reflect the vibrance and diversity of modern India, incorporating the nation's cultural and regional arts and crafts.

The Central Lounge

The Central Lounge is being created to coplement the open courtyard. It is intended to be a place for members to interact. The courtyard will have the national tree, Banyan tree.

The building will have offices that are designed to be secure, and efficient and are equipped with the latest communications technology.

The new Parliament building library will efficiently serve the members for gathering information from archived material.

The new building will be accessible to people with disabilities. They will be able to move around freely and independently.
