Shambhu-Ambala highway cleared

Security personnel from Haryana removed the cement barricades on their side of the Shambhu-Ambala Highway, reopening the road for traffic. However, the barricades on the Punjab side at the Khanauri border are still being dismantled.

Police resumes operation at border

Punjab Police resumed clearing operations at both the Shambhu and Khanauri points, dismantling the remaining temporary structures. Trolleys were relocated to an open ground, allowing farmers to reclaim them with identity proof.

Farmers have been protesting at the Punjab-Haryana borders for over a year, demanding action on various issues. These protests have affected local trade and youth employment, particularly in Punjab.

DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu’s statement

DIG Sidhu highlighted that movable items were being shifted 3 km away from the border. He assured that farmers could retrieve their items by providing proof of ownership and emphasized the cooperation from farmers.

Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema defended the police action, stressing the need to reopen the Shambhu and Khanauri borders for the state's economic well-being. He urged farmers to protest in Delhi, as their demands target the Central government.
