NEW DELHI: Congress leader DK Shivakumar is set to be sworn in as the chief minister of Karnataka on Tuesday, with senior party leader G Parameshwara expected to take oath as the deputy chief minister. While the allocation of portfolios is yet to be announced, a list of 14 leaders likely to be part of the new cabinet has emerged, according to sources cited by news agency ANI.
Ahead of the ceremony, Shivakumar indicated that 13 ministers would be sworn in alongside him, though he did not provide further details, news agency PTI said.
Among those expected to join the cabinet is Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of former chief minister Siddaramaiah. The proposed council of ministers reflects a mix of experienced leaders and new faces, with most members having served in the previous Congress government.

Earlier in the day, Shivakumar greeted supporters who had gathered outside his Bengaluru residence, where party workers and well-wishers held special prayers and celebratory events ahead of the swearing-in ceremony that will formally elevate him to Karnataka's top post.
