There's a grave oxygen crisis in Delhi for last 3 days. Centre increased allocation yesterday. It's making allocations to all states. Delhi's quota was less than requirement, they increased it now. If crisis is resolved in a day or 2, number of beds will be increased: Delhi Health Minister

India reports over 3.14 lakh new Covid-19 cases in a day, highest ever anywhere in the world
Of 19 states with a population of 2 crore-plus, at least eight have covered 10% or more people each with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, ahead of the national average of 8.4%. And cumulatively, 1.2% of the population in these states have been fully inoculated with two doses, according to an analysis of data from the Union health ministry as of 7am on April 21.

Karnataka asks steel mills to ramp up oxygen production, supply to hospitals
Karnataka minister of mines and geology Murugesh R Nirani on Wednesday said that he has instructed the steel companies operating in the state to ramp up their efforts to produce oxygen and supply them to hospitals here on priority basis.Addressing to media in Vikasa Soudha, the minister said state government has been taking all possible steps to tackle the public health emergency caused by COVID-19 pandemic."We are leaving no stone unturned and making all the efforts to deal with the extraordinary situation the state is facing due to Covid-19. Steps are being taken to augment the supply of oxygen to hospitals," Nirani said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday expressed sadness over the death of noted Islamic scholar Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, and said he will be remembered for his insightful knowledge on matters of theology and spirituality."Saddened by the passing away of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. He will be remembered for his insightful knowledge on matters of theology and spirituality. He was also passionate about community service and social empowerment. Condolences to his family and countless well-wishers. RIP," Modi tweeted.Khan passed away Wednesday at the age of 96. He had recently tested positive for Covid-19.In January this year, the government had announced Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award, for Khan.
