KATNI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday lambasted the Vajpayee-led NDA government at the Centre for its lack of will to tackle terrorism. She was addressing a huge gathering of party workers here. She cautioned the people not to get carried away by the communal agenda of the BJP. She also said empowerment of women had her party's unflinching support.
She took a dig at the NDA government for playing politics with natural calamities and called for a change of guard at the Centre. She also said there was no proper coordination among the alliance partners at the Centre and they were together only to share power. The BJP came to power by creating divisions among the people and by fanning communal feelings, she added. Every section of society, including women and farmers, is suffering because of the wrong policies of the NDA government, she said. She also said Prime Minister Vajpayee, after promising at least one crore new jobs every year, had reduced over 66 lakh job opportunities. Veteran Congress leader Arjun Singh, AICC general secretaries Ambika Soni and Kamal Nath and chief minister Digvijay Singh were also present at the meeting. Talking to the media at Jabalpur, Sonia said the condition of roads in the state was improving and the power crisis would be solved soon.
