Countdown begins

Preparations for the Mahakumbh 2025 are in full swing in Prayagraj. This grand spiritual event, held once every 12 years, will begin on January 13 and conclude on February 26, 2025. (AP photo)

Key events

Devotees from across the globe will converge to participate in the sacred Shahi snan (royal baths), scheduled for January 14 (Makar sankranti), January 29 (Mauni amavasya), and February 3 (Basant panchami). (AP photo)

Prime Minister reviewed preparations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Prayagraj to oversee Mahakumbh preparations. During his visit, he met with saints, reviewed the progress of various projects, and performed prayers at the Sangam. (ANI photo)

Reuniting Ganga's flow

In a significant effort to enhance the bathing experience, three streams of the Ganga have been merged. This has created 22 hectares of additional space, enabling millions of devotees to bathe simultaneously at a central location. This intervention was necessary after the Ganga had split into three streams, complicating Mahakumbh logistics. (ANI photo)

Digital touch

For the first time, AI-generative chatbot technology will allow attendees to receive personalised Maha Kumbh certificates. By scanning a QR code, visitors can add their photo to the certificate, save it digitally, or print it. The chatbot will also provide detailed information about events and programmes. (AP photo)

Ensuring purity

To maintain the cleanliness and purity of the Ganga for millions of pilgrims, a geo-tube-based treatment facility is being installed in Salori. This system will treat wastewater from 22 untapped drains in Prayagraj, ensuring that the river remains pristine throughout the event. (AP photo)

A logistic marvel

The Mahakumbh is not just a spiritual event but a logistical marvel. Massive preparations and security measures will be in place for the tens of millions of devotees who will attend the Mahakumbh in January next month. (ANI photo)
