Customs officials at Delhi's IGI Airport have seized 2.755 kg of smuggled gold valued at Rs 3.80 crore from an Indian passenger who arrived from Sharjah on June 1.

Acting on specific intelligence, officers intercepted the passenger and recovered two black pouches containing gold paste concealed beneath an aircraft seat during a follow-up search.

After extraction and refining, 2,755 grams of gold was recovered. The gold has been seized under the Customs Act, and the passenger has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.

Delhi's Karkardooma Court is set to pronounce its verdict on June 4 in the 2020 murder case of Intelligence Bureau official Ankit Sharma, who was killed during the North East Delhi riots.

Sharma's body was recovered from a drain after the violence. Former MCD councillor Tahir Hussain and 10 others are among the accused in the case.

The FIR was registered at Dayalpur Police Station based on a complaint filed by Sharma's father.

The Enforcement Directorate is conducting searches across Punjab and Uttar Pradesh in connection with a major human trafficking syndicate allegedly operating between India and Cambodia. Officials said the network is suspected of involvement in organised human trafficking, cyber fraud and laundering of proceeds of crime.

The probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) was initiated after an ECIR based on FIRs and charge sheets filed by Delhi Police. Searches are focused on recruiters and agents accused of sending victims abroad under false job promises.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested three key accused, Abhay Singh Rathore, Mohd Zakir and Rahul Badera, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, in connection with the Indore Municipal Corporation fake bill scam case.

According to the agency, the arrests were made on June 1 and the accused were later produced before a special PMLA court in Indore.

The court has granted ED custody of all three till June 5 for further investigation into the alleged multi-crore money laundering network.

The Union Cabinet has approved a one-time budgetary support package of up to Rs 10,000 crore for Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to help stabilise Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for scheduled Indian airlines.

Announcing the decision, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the support will benefit airlines operating both domestic and international services, providing relief as carriers grapple with elevated fuel costs.

According to the police, among those arrested is the director of a coaching institute. Currently, the police are actively investigating the entire incident and the potential involvement of other suspects. Further arrests in this case are also possible, say Police.

The Supreme Court has constituted a high-powered committee to conduct an independent review of the Centre's report on the definition and delineation of the Aravalli hill range and directed the panel to address what it described as "critical ambiguities" in the findings.

In a major late-night crackdown, Ahmedabad Police and the Crime Branch have launched a mega search operation targeting suspected illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators across various areas, including Chandola, Gulabnagar, and Khodiyarnagar of Ahmedabad.

"Over 290 suspects have been taken into police custody and are currently being interrogated at the Crime Branch. According to crime branch officials, a total of 131 individuals have been apprehended from various locations, and an additional 160 suspects are currently undergoing intense interrogation at the Crime Branch," says CP Crime Branch Ahmedabad.

The security forces continue to track down terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forest areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector, ANI reports.
