Update Aadhaar details for free

Aadhaar serves as a crucial identity document for citizens across the nation, containing essential information like name, address, photograph, biometric data, and other pertinent details. Recognized widely across governmental and non-governmental sectors, it is essential to keep Aadhaar information updated, including the photograph and address. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) offers the option to modify specific details on Aadhaar online, albeit with a fee. As part of the Digital India initiative, the government has introduced a provision allowing citizens to update certain details on their Aadhaar card free of charge, accessible through the myAadhaar portal. If you're planning to update your Aadhaar details, the following information offers a comprehensive guide to help you through the process.

Where to update your Aadhaar for free

Aadhaar cardholders can avail themselves of the complimentary updating service via the myAadhaar portal, accessible at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.

3/7

Aadhaar update is free only if you do it online

Updating Aadhaar details is free exclusively through the e-Aadhaar portal. Nevertheless, physical Aadhaar centers will continue to levy a fee of Rs 50 for the same service.

4/7

Fees to update Aadhaar online after March 15

Starting March 15, Aadhaar cardholders will need to pay Rs 50 for each change or update made to their Aadhaar details. This fee is applicable when updating Aadhaar at any Aadhaar center as well.

5/7

Details that can be updated online

The UIDAI allows Aadhaar cardholders to benefit from the complimentary update service for details such as Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (PoA) until March 15. This does not affect other updating services provided by the government body for Aadhaar-related updates.

6/7

Details you cannot update online

This service is not for updating your details including Name, Gender, Date of Birth or Address in Aadhaar.
