'To every mother...': Anand Mahindra shares vegetable seller's reaction to son's CRPF selection

On May 10, 2026, the world celebrated Mother's Day. From new moms, mothers-in-law, and even grandmothers, every maternal figure was celebrated for their contribution to the lives of their children and families. On the day, popular Indian industrialist Anand Mahindra found inspiration from a vegetable-selling mother.

He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartwarming and emotional video on the occasion of Mother's Day to applaud every mother who works to build her child's future.

The clip which is from Maharashtra's Sindhudurg, showed the teary-eyed reaction of a vegetable seller's mother when her son tells her that he has been inducted into the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The mother was sitting on the footpath, selling vegetables, when her son, Gopal Sawant arrived with the good news.

In a gesture of respect and gratitude, he bowed down before his mother, putting his head on her feet. The overwhelmed mother blessed her son, hugged him and kissed his face as both broke down in happy tears.

The mother had struggled her whole life, selling vegetables on footpaths to help her son go to school and receive an education. “Gopal Sawant’s mother spent every day under the sun selling vegetables on a Maharashtra sidewalk just to keep his education on track. After being selected for the CRPF, Gopal went straight to the dusty Kudal footpath where his mom was working. In front of her vegetable crates, he fell to his feet and hugged her, both of them breaking down in tears," wrote Mahindra.

He added that the incident served as a powerful reminder that behind every great achievement, there's often a mother's sacrifice. Hailing women who build their children's future, Mahindra added: “To every mother who works to build her child's future: today is for you. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Numerous netizens hailed the mother's sacrifice for her son along with his perseverance to turn their lives around with his hard work.
